MYOCARDITIS

What Is It?

While Ashley battled with Ulcerative Colitis during her life, Myocarditis itself was not discovered until after her passing.

Myocarditis is a disease that inflames the heart muscle. It enlarges and weakens the heart, forcing it to work harder circulating blood and oxygen. The disease affects so many young people, and most cases have no symptoms and are only identified by tests that are specifically requested.

Myocarditis usually attacks otherwise healthy people, and it is believed that 5%-20% of all cases of sudden death in young adults are due to the disease.

The Myocarditis Foundation provides support to the causes, symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment of this deadly disease. Donations to the Foundation increase research and education about Myocarditis and support for families who have been affected.
